Eliaskirken
Service in English: WinterJAZZ – between language and music, life and spirit
There are black holes in our lives: joys, sorrows, time that has been or not yet arrived, the big questions, we will never have an answer to. Then there are the invisible lines: emotions which slip through our fingers, the more we search for them. During the month of February, at Eliaskirken’s TuesdayJAZZ and Sunday services we will be exploring the event horizon between language and music, poetry and singing, purpose and impulse, life and spirit, everyday and eternity.
WinterJAZZ – between language and music, life and spirit is part of Copenhagen Jazz Festival Winterjazz program.
Event Horizon is an astronomical phenomenon which describes the horizon at black holes. The separation between the known and the unknown, everything we are able to measure and relate ourselves towards – and then everything which may have a force so great that we have no remedies or chances to relate ourselves towards it. A radical otherness which we can only sense and try to imagine what could be.
Winterjazz is on Tuesdays and Sundays in February
Take an hour’s break, allow the big and small questions of life to touch and move you through music and words. The Jazz is performed by some of the best jazz musicians in the country in one of the most stunning churches in Copenhagen where reflections on the biggest mysteries of life are experienced through Scripture.
Services at Eliaskirken Tuesdays at 5 pm in Danish, and Sundays at 1pm (alternating between Danish and English) all year round.
